Posted:  12th April, 2025

Position: System CAE Engineer

Domain: Automotive / EV / SIL

Job Type: Permanent / Contract

Location: Onsite in West Midlands, UK / Remote

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with key simulation tools including MATLAB, Python, and is driven to improve simulation fidelity across the system development lifecycle. The candidate will be instrumental in delivering a cohesive system modelling continuum to support early-stage concept validation through to late-stage integration and performance verification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain system-level performance models to simulate dynamic behavior across vehicle or propulsion subsystems.

  • Support the delivery and enhancement of the system tool continuum—from concept design to integration testing.

  • Implement and validate Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environments for simulation and virtual validation use cases.

  • Correlate simulation models against test data to improve model accuracy and predictive performance.

  • Work cross-functionally with controls, calibration, and hardware teams to ensure model alignment with physical systems.

  • Apply Matlab, Simulink, and Python-based tools to develop and automate simulations and analysis.

  • Provide simulation insights to influence design, validation strategy, and product improvement activities.

  • Contribute to model documentation, version control, and integration with toolchains and workflows.

  • Support digital validation and virtual sign-off activities with accurate, robust model output.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

Technical & Simulation Skills:

  • Strong experience in system-level CAE modelling and simulation for automotive, propulsion, or mechatronic systems.

  • Expertise in MATLAB, Simulink, and Python for simulation, data analysis, and tool development.

  • Experience with SIL environments, co-simulation setups, and testbench automation.

  • Proven ability to correlate simulation results with experimental data to improve model fidelity.

  • Familiarity with digital engineering workflows and system development lifecycles.

Tool & Platform Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with system simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, Dymola, AMESim, or similar platforms.

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and automation scripting (e.g., Python, pandas, matplotlib).

  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and model lifecycle management tools is a plus.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in CAE / Systems Simulation within automotive, aerospace, or relevant industries.

  • Direct involvement in system performance analysis, SIL development, and virtual validation environments.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset.

  • Effective communication and documentation skills for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Attention to detail with a proactive, hands-on approach to simulation challenges.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Additional coursework or certifications in modelling/simulation or data science are an advantage.

What we offer (For Permanent)

  • Competitive Salary in line with level of experience

  • UK Work Visa sponsorship for eligible candidates

  • Opportunity to be part of world class product development projects

  • Pension Scheme

  • 28 Days Holidays (Annual + Bank Holidays).
