Job Summary:

You’ll be supporting the team in delivering the electrified powerpack NVH attribute for all vehicle applications, working on all aspects of electrified powerpack NVH design, development and delivery from initial concept design through to series production. The team’s primary role is the NVH development of Electric Drive Units (EDUs). Responsible for the complete torque transfer system from the output of an internal combustion engine to the wheel hubs.  The role includes supporting in analysing competitor information, benchmarking, setting targets, liaising with all areas of EDU design & development, Powertrain and Vehicle NVH teams. Scope covers from component to vehicle level to deliver the NVH attribute using, rigs, noise test cells and vehicle testing.  You’ll work very closely with the CAE NVH team who provide the virtual development tools to support NVH attribute delivery. ​

Key Responsibilities 

  • You’ll be aware of practical problem-solving techniques and have used or be familiar with 8D and other tools.  You’ll also have technical experience using LMS to record and analyse data, and you’ll be able to interpret and present the data. 

  • You will be flexible and adaptable, you’ll be able to support a number of workstreams simultaneously, with your involvement from detailed technical work to high-level programme overview. 

  • The ability to support complex technical, both verbal and written communication skills to report technical issues across all levels. 

  • Support the delivery of the electrified powerpack NVH attribute to quality, cost and time deploying a systems engineering approach to ensure full target compatibility with all interfacing functions up to vehicle customer level. 

  • Provide and communicate data-driven clear direction and recommendations from your work. 

  • Support electrified Powerpack NVH attribute development and delivery; benchmarking, target setting, technical assumptions, issue resolution, verification testing and overall project planning and execution. 

  • Conduct NVH measurements, data analysis and reporting of results and conclusions in accordance with project development quality, cost and timing. 

  • Work as part of a team with component & test engineers, CAE engineers and suppliers to conduct NVH work. 

  • Support all matters relating to Electrified Powerpack NVH especially testing of components, systems and vehicles. 

  • Support continuous improvement in NVH processes, tools and techniques and support development of department standards, requirements and procedures. 

  • Embrace Agile framework into everyday ways of working including daily stand-up, sprint retrospective, backlog refinement and showcases.  Define and deliver MBI’s and Stories to manage workflow in Group Sprints, escalate and resolve issues using Agile tools and methods. 

  • Support problem definition, investigation and resolution using appropriate tools and processes. 

  • Conduct the design analysis and development with utmost quality within agile framework. 

  • To support the design, development workstreams within the scope of the engineering development projects. 

  • Support prototype design freeze activities for customer applications, support customer production / prototype sites & liaise with their engineering team. 

Skills Knowledge and Experience 

  • Educated to a minimum of Degree level and fundamental knowledge of power unit systems and in particular ICE & EDU propulsion system commodities. 

  • Knowledge of NVH. 

  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver measurements or experiments. 

  • Ability to conduct NVH measurement and data analysis using industry standard instrumentation and tools (e.g. Bruel & Kjaer, LMS).  

  • Ability to collect, analyse and interpret data, draw conclusions, determine next steps, report and present work. 

  • Proven experience of problem solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving. 

  • Ability to use quality tools, processes and metrics for product robustness and continuous improvement.  

  • Knowledge of product development systems and processes. 

  • Experience of gear and motor design and the NVH implications of these systems. 

  • Experience of either EDU or rotating machinery NVH development. 

  • Knowledge / experience of CAE tools and techniques 

  • Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering and cross functional experience 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, working in global cross functional team. 

  • Analytical thinking skills, open mind and team working oriented. 

  • Ability to manage complexity with a high sense of accountability, proactivity and accuracy. 

  • Previous experience of supporting engineering or analytical projects 

  • Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design.
