Job Summary:

This team is responsible for CAE / simulations for all areas within PT (such as Traction Batteries, EDUs, E-Machines, Inverters, Transmissions, Drivelines, et.al), the CAE assessments from this team feeds into significant engineering & program decisions for product development cycle.
We are looking for an engineer to join us in the Multibody Simulation Powertrain Engineering project. Powertrain MBS CAE provides powertrain as installed in vehicle analysis, focusing on driveability, durability and NVH modelling across all powertrain and vehicle programmes. Covering both conventional and electrified powertrains, virtual analysis is relied upon to inform critical decisions. Simpack-based models are used to deliver functional analyses in support of powertrain component and systems attribute delivery, gateway status reporting, issue resolution and aspects of calibration optimisation. This role will focus on delivering the MBS Simpack assessments covering the performance of powertrain as installed in vehicle.
Key Responsibilities

Lead delivery of modelling and analysis activities as per the design verification plan using Simpack software

Problem solving - leading and supporting issue resolution related to torque transfer path using Simpack software.

Work with the CAE delivery engineers to ensure process documentation is maintained.

Liaise with all internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary.

Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

Support the design, development workstreams within the scope of the engineering development projects.

Conduct the analysis / simulations and development with utmost quality within agile framework.

Dynamic & static attribute targets to be integrated into the product design assessment. Support prototype design freeze activities for customer applications, support customer production / prototype sites & liaise with their engineering team.
Skills Knowledge and Experience Required:

Degree or similar qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering or a related subject

Knowledge and experience of MBS simulation techniques and methods, using Simpack or similar MBS software.

Solid background of mechanics, machine design, powertrain and vehicle dynamics, and vibration theory

A strong working knowledge of conventional and electrified powertrain architectures and operating characteristics

Excellent knowledge of powertrain torque transfer path and its controls

Good analytical capability

Proven success in model development, validation and correlation

Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas.

Be highly driven, self-motivated and able to deliver under pressure with minimum supervision.
Desired:
-
Prior knowledge and experience in powertrain multibody model development and validation in Simpack

Proficient understanding and application of MATLAB and Simulink

Experience of co-simulation of MBS software with Matlab Simulink

Proven capability to identify and implement tool and process improvements.

Experience of maintaining traceability and structure in information in a variety of forms

Knowledge of a range of CAD, CAE and other virtual assessment processes, methods and tools

Knowledge of whole vehicle automotive product design, requirements, attributes, and verification

Experience in writing/interpreting coding languages (MATLAB, C++, Python, JavaScript) would be advantageous.
