This role is central to ensuring that EV propulsion systems are effectively integrated and validated within the vehicle environment, meeting all performance and functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead and coordinate the integration of propulsion systems (motors, inverters, batteries, controls) into vehicle platforms.
-
Plan, execute, and analyse PiL (Processor-in-the-Loop) and ViL (Vehicle-in-the-Loop) tests for propulsion system validation.
-
Develop and manage Design Validation (DV) plans, including test strategy, schedule, and execution tracking.
-
Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize system performance and troubleshoot integration challenges.
-
Capture, log, and analyse high-fidelity data using vehicle instrumentation and test tools to validate functional behaviour.
-
Lead problem-solving activities using structured techniques such as 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement robust countermeasures.
-
Apply engineering first principles to evaluate and resolve complex integration issues affecting performance or drivability.
-
Work collaboratively across systems, software, calibration, and manufacturing teams to ensure delivery of validated propulsion systems.
-
Support vehicle build phases and development testing, ensuring timely issue resolution and alignment with program milestones.
-
Document findings, produce technical reports, and contribute to system release readiness.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
Technical Skills:
-
In-depth knowledge of EV propulsion systems, including electric motors, inverters, battery systems, and control strategies.
-
Proficient in PiL/ViL testing, vehicle instrumentation, and data analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, INCA, MATLAB, Vector tools).
-
Experience in Design Validation (DV) planning, execution, and DOE methodology.
-
Strong understanding of vehicle systems integration and validation workflows.
-
Familiarity with engineering simulation, diagnostics, and real-world system behaviour analysis.
Problem Solving & Engineering Approach:
-
Expertise in structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone Diagrams.
-
Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first principles thinking in mechanical, electrical, and control domains.
Experience:
-
4–8 years of relevant experience in EV or hybrid vehicle propulsion system development and integration.
-
Experience with vehicle testing, system-level troubleshooting, and cross-functional engineering coordination.
