Position: Lead Engineer

Key Performance Indicators:

 

  • Deliver the Concept FMEA for the electric machine as a system and its sub-components.

  • Agree the functional and physical interaction of the components within the eMachine and also the external interfaces.

  • System Design Specification – prepare system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements

  • System Integration – Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document and a system integration plan.

  • Requirements and test cases authoring for both eMachine as a system and its sub-components.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

  • Provide technical support and assistance across the Advanced eMachine team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis

  • Follow guidance from Technical Specialists and Advanced Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance

  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

  • Key interactions: Advanced eMachine component and subcomponent design engineers; Advanced EDU system team; Advanced EDU integration team; Advanced Inverter team.

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

 

Essential:

 

  • Good relevant experience (minimum 5 years) of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector

  • Expertise in eMachine, specially their thermal and electromagnetic behaviour

  • Working knowledge on inverters and Electric Drive units

  • Requirements Management

  • Good verbal and written communications

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance

  • Full UK driving licence

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach

  • Six Sigma Green belt certified

  • A PhD level of education with relevant industrial research is preferred

  • Model based engineering (MBE)

  • Experience in IBM Rational DOORS

 

 

Education:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
