Position: Lead Engineer

Key Performance Indicators:

Deliver the Concept FMEA for the electric machine as a system and its sub-components.

Agree the functional and physical interaction of the components within the eMachine and also the external interfaces.

System Design Specification – prepare system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements
-
System Integration – Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document and a system integration plan.
-
Requirements and test cases authoring for both eMachine as a system and its sub-components.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

Provide technical support and assistance across the Advanced eMachine team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis

Follow guidance from Technical Specialists and Advanced Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance

Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Key interactions: Advanced eMachine component and subcomponent design engineers; Advanced EDU system team; Advanced EDU integration team; Advanced Inverter team.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
Essential:
-
Good relevant experience (minimum 5 years) of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector

Expertise in eMachine, specially their thermal and electromagnetic behaviour
-
Working knowledge on inverters and Electric Drive units
-
Requirements Management
-
Good verbal and written communications
-
Analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
-
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
-
Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
-
Six Sigma Green belt certified
-
A PhD level of education with relevant industrial research is preferred
-
Model based engineering (MBE)
-
Experience in IBM Rational DOORS
Education:
-
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
