You will working on PT CAE Propulsion Group for Electrification projects. This team is responsible for CAE / simulations for all areas within PT (such as Traction Batteries, EDUs, E-Machines, Inverters, Transmissions, Drivelines, et.al), the CAE assessments from this team feeds into significant engineering & program decisions for product development cycle.
You will be performing Electro-Thermal Fluid analysis of the Propulsion System (such as EDUs, Inverter, E-Machines, Traction Batteries, Transmissions) at System / Sub-system level, establish eTF simulation team design capabilities, responsible for establishing analysis workflows, specifications and standards within the team. Co-ordinate with physical testing team to co-relate the analysis results with the real test data and gather learning to optimise the eTF methods for future assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake virtual verification of the PT units.

Apply 1 and or 3d techniques using standardised processes.

Provide clear status against engineering questions.
-
Review CAD and feedback ahead of the virtual assessment.

Quality assure non geometrical data ahead of the virtual assessments.
-
Recommend and / or demonstrate design solutions to resolve any issues identified.

Document status and recommendations.
-

Undertake design optimisation.
-
Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: COC component design teams, PAT teams, packaging teams
-
Work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints undertaking simulations as required.

Have some product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions.

Support the Methods lead develop tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual models.

Correlate existing analysis processes against physical data. Identify process short comings and opportunities to improve.

Support department prevent reoccurrence process identify CAE failures and undertaking annual projects to resolve.

Support methods reviews as appropriate contributing ideas.

Support issue resolution and warranty activity as required.

Liaise with all internal customers of our business as well as offshore operations where necessary.

Mentor and train junior and offshore team members

Ensure junior / offshore team members are familiar with CAE processes.

Support junior / offshore team member issue resolution (process and design verification).

Quality assure junior / offshore team member work ensure correct and consistent processes.

Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
-
Degree or similar qualification in mechanical engineering or a related subject.
-
Working knowledge and experience of Electro-Thermal Fluid CAE methodologies.
-
Previous experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges.

Previous experience of battery / electric drive units and internal combustion component / system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets.

Previous experience of delivering engineering or analytical projects

Competent in the use of explicit and/or implicit software and associated pre and post processing packages

Matlab / Simulink

GT Suite

JAVA

Experience in proposing product modifications to improve design.

Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Desirable:

Experience in continuous improvements to business processes to support customer service and financial objectives.

Experience in advanced physical measurement techniques e.g. PIV, PLIF, etc…

Competent in the use of
